FRCR Exam 2024: Realise the Requirements To Meet For Sitting the Exam

FRCR Exam 2024 is finally here to test your worthiness to possess the prestigious fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR). It is a rigorous exam that tests the skills of physicians who specialise in radiography.

What is FRCR and its Eligibility Criteria

The FRCR Exam thoroughly tests your knowledge in various radiology specialisation. This exam consists of three sections, which effectively assess your proficiency in various specialisations like nuclear medicine, radiation oncology, and diagnostic radiology. They are effectively Part 1, Part 2A and Part 2B. Each of these exams have varying eligibility criteria.

FRCR Part 1 Exam

FRCR Part 1 Exam consists of two papers; one tests your knowledge of physics, anatomy and picture interpretation with 120 questions. While the other tests your ability in interpreting images, managing patients and clinical radiology with 120 questions. Both of them has a three hour duration.

The FRCR Exam 2024 can be attempted during your internship or immediate post-internship. FRCR Part 1 does not ask for any documents regarding your training, but does ask for a letter of consent from the Director of the training programme if the candidate is currently completing a training in radiology from the UK.

FRCR Part 2A Exam

This Part A component of the final exam tests your clinical expertise and acumen in solving radiological problems. There are two papers in the program, each with 120 questions and three hours of duration.

The first paper focuses on neuroradiology, gastrointestinal imaging, and musculoskeletal imaging while the second paper focuses on genitourinary, cardiovascular, and chest imaging.

You can only apply for the FRCR Part 2A Exam after successfully passing Part 1 physics and anatomy. Along with the completion of 24 months of radiology training.

FRCR Part 2B Exam

FRCR Part 2B is the hardest hurdle to overcome in the FRCR Exam. It tests your clinical diagnosis and judgement along with your prowess in clinical radiology skills.

In order to attempt the FRCR Part 2B, passing of the previous Part 1 exam and 36 months of radiology training are a must.
