The European Fellow of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EFOG) examination conducted by the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG) analyses the candidate’s understanding of the basic principles in gynaecology and their clinical expertise to put these principles into practice. In essence, EBCOG sets certain standards for post graduate training and through the EFOG-EBCOG examination, assesses whether a candidate has acquired the ability to meet these standards.
EFOG EBCOG Exam Pattern
EFOG- EBCOG exam is conducted in two parts. Part 1 of the EFOG-EBCOG exam is a computer-based knowledge assessment and EFOG-EBCOG Part 2 is the clinical skill assessment or the OSCE. Candidates will receive the EFOG certification only after clearing both the stages of assessment.
Tips Before the EFOG-EBCOG Exam
The EFOG-EBCOG exam is the assessment of the candidate’s expertise in obstetrics and gynaecology and their ability to handle the patients and their conditions. The best approach before the examination would be to recollect and revise the knowledge that you have gained during your training period.
Make sure that the syllabus is covered completely and you have an understanding of both theory and practical scenarios.
Do not skip your practice sessions. Attempt as many mock exams as possible so that you become accustomed to the type of questions asked and can manage your time better.
The most important thing is to take care of yourself. Ensure that you do not become exhausted in the process. Try to get enough rest for both your body and mind. Only then will you be able to attempt the exam with confidence.
What to Remember During the Examination
Candidates are required to be present at the exam centre well before the stipulated time, usually at least one hour earlier. Upon arrival, they must complete a registration process. It is mandatory to carry identification documents for the verification procedure. Candidates are also required to bring their own examination-compatible laptops and necessary gadgets. However, mobile phones are not allowed inside the examination hall.
Once inside the examination hall, candidates are not permitted to leave until at least one hour has passed after the exam begins. They are also not allowed to exit during the last 15 minutes of the exam. If a candidate needs to step out for any personal reason, they will be accompanied by an invigilator.
Warning bells will be given twice—30 minutes and 15 minutes before the end of the examination. Once the time is up, candidates must stop writing immediately.
Any form of communication with other candidates is strictly prohibited inside the exam hall. Additionally, candidates will be monitored for any signs of cheating during the exam.
